Tekken

The first Tekken debuted at 1994, a year before Soul Edge. It was the first 3D game I played, and looking back at the blocky graphic of Tekken 1, it sure has come a long way. Tekken has improved a lot, both graphically and technically. The game is popular among martial arts enthusiasts due to the fact that most of the characters represents a real life fighting art. Of course, being a video game, most of the fighting styles presented are more on the fictional side, but still, you can hardly find a game that is as visually appealing and accessible.

Tekken is sometimes considered the "Soul Calibur without weapons" or the other way around. While both games do share some similar gameplay mechanics, each series is has it's own uniqueness which make them equally awesome fighting games. The both games are often crossed-over and has shown to be somehow loosely connected. It is often agreed upon that the surrounding stories of Tekken and SC took place in the same universe but in different time periods. Will there be more reference that finally link the two series together in future? Only Namco knows.
