Finally, one badass Chinese fighter who's not a Bruce Lee virtual clone.

As a protective father, Marshall forbids his son to compete in any contests outside his own dojo. Marshall's friend, Paul visits the dojo regularly to spar with Marshall. Forest knew his father would be angry but he had to prove that he's worthy of one day inheriting the dojo. After that, he took Paul's bike for a ride and and ended up in a major traffic accident, leading his dad to join the succeeding tournaments to win the prize money for his medical bills and property damages. Rating - 2/10. Yes, Bruce Lee is a legend, but there's something about carbon-copy fictional characters that just make you care less about them.
GanryuAge - 55Origin - Japan Fighting Style - Sumo Appearances - Tekken 2, TTT, Tekken 5, Tekken: Dark Resurrection Story - Banned from the Sumo ring for fixing fights in his favor, Ganryu ended up being employed by Kazuya as a lackey. He was sent to kidnap Michelle Chang and ended up felling in love with her - a love that, obviously, was one-sided. After Michelle defeated him and Kazuya's disappearance, he returned to the only sport he was capable of and opened a sumo stable to train other wrestlers. After his ban was lifted, he became a Rikishi (literally: "strong man", a sumo rank) He was one of the people thought to be killed by Ogre pre-T3, but made a comeback in T5 as more of a comic relief, where he spotted Michelle's adopted daughter, Julia, and falls in love with her. Rating - 2/10. Okay, he can't get the mom, so he's after the daughter....here's a guy one ought to get a restraining order against. Do we really need to have the fatass fighting game stereotype around?
GonAge - UnknownOrigin - Japan Fighting Style - Dragon self-defense Appearances - Tekken 3 Story - Gon is the title character in a classic manga of it's name, by Masashi Tanaka. He was licensed to appear in T3, though canon or not, is unknown. Rating - 0/10. He don't belong in a frickkin' fighting game!
Heihachi MishimaAge - 75Origin - Japan (though denied by the Japanese government) Fighting Style - Mishima-Style Karate Appearances - Tekken, Tekken 2, Tekken 3, TTT, Tekken 4, Tekken 5, Tekken: Dark Resurrection Story - The King of Iron Fist himself. After he imprisoned his own father and took control of the Mishima conglomerate (the zaibatsu), he raised his son Kazuya harshly in order to groom his son to become his heir. Ever cruel and relentless, blood relations has no meaning to Heihachi. He is practically responsible for the struggles of the whole Mishima family. He is currently after the Devil Gene possess by Kazuya and Jin in order to combine his DNA with that of Ogre, probably to make himself immortal. Rating - 10/10. Need I say more?
HwoarangAge - 21Origin - South Korea Fighting Style - Tae Kwon Do Appearances - Tekken 3, TTT, Tekken 4, Tekken 5, Tekken: Dark Resurrection Story - Baek's student who made a living in street fight gambles. First, his gang members would pretend to lose matches, then he would step in and win. One day, he faced Jin Kazama and was forced to a draw for the first time. Since that incident, his only reason for joining the Iron Fist tournament after tournament is to face Jin and even the score, and of course, because he loves the thrill of hand-to-hand combat. Rating - 7/10. He's the bad boy, loser-with-an-attitude that girls seemed to love. Well, I find him as boring as his master, and he's button-masher friendly.
JackAge(s) - 3 (Tekken), 5 (Tekken 2), 7 (Tekken 3), 0 (Tekken 5)Origin - Russia Fighting Style - Power Fighting Appearances - Tekken, Tekken 2, Tekken 3, TTT, Tekken 5, Tekken: Dark Resurrection Story - The Jacks are robotic fighting machines created for different purposes. Never has one model competed in more than one tournament or for the same reason. There is a different incarnation for each game, with almost similar storylines: Jack (Tekken), Jack-2 (T2), Gun Jack (T3), Jack-4 (never competed in the tournament, but was seen in T5 intro) and Jack-5 (T5). Rating - 2/10. Sure, there has to be a big-and-slow character to balance out a fighting game cast, but the bears and Ganryu all have almost similar moves to the Jacks. Death to lameass robots!!
Jin KazamaAge - 21Origin - Japan Fighting Style - Mishima-style Karate & Kazama-style Defense (Prior to T4), Kyokushin Karate Appearances - Tekken 3, TTT, Tekken 4, Tekken 5, Tekken: Dark Resurrection Story - The son of Kazuya and Jun. During the King of Iron Fist 3, Jin defeated Ogre only to be gunned down by Heihachi and members of the Tekken Force. It was at that moment that the devil powers inherited from his father kicked in and instead of dying, he struck Heihachi down, sprouted devil wings and flew off. After Heihachi's betrayal, Jin went into a pit of self-loathing. At first, he planned on eliminating his grandfather and father, and then kill himself to put an end to the cursed Mishima bloodline, but memories of his mother prevented him from doing so. Now, he's either planning the destruction or takeover of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Rating - 10/10. Okay, Jin is my most favorite video game guy, so this is going to sound extremely bias! He is the most drop-dead-gorgeous, interesting and well-dressed male character ever created. Not to mention both his old and new move sets made him arguably the most well-rounded in the game.
Jinpachi MishimaAge - Over 100?Origin - Japan Fighting Style - Mishima-style Karate & Demonic powers Appearances - Tekken 5, Tekken: Dark Resurrection Story - A once world-renowned martial artists and founder of the Mishima Zaibatsu. After the fourth King of Iron Fist tournament ended, a unit of Jacks was sent to Hon Maru by the G Corporation, a rival of the Mishima Zaibatsu, in an attempt to kill Heihachi. When one of the Jacks exploded, the prison seal was weakened and Jinpachi was released in time for the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. Rating - 6/10. While his son, grandson and great-grandson are such badasses, the same thing can't be said about him.

She dedicated herself to studying ecosystem restoration, to save her homeland but she keep hitting a dead end. In order to further her research, she needs to retrieve the forest restoration data from the Mishima Zaibatsu, which has become her primary goal from T4 onwards. Rating - 4/10. Can't never find another character that's as bland as a doormat like Julia. Isn't she suppose to be an archeology student? What happen to that, now that she's a tree-hugging hippie?
Jun KazamaAge - 22 (T2)Origin - Japan Fighting Style - Kazama Style Defense Appearances - Tekken 2, TTT Story - Mother of Jin Kazama. Jun was an officer of a wildlife protection organization who was sent to investigate Kazuya Mishima for smuggling environmentally-protected animals. They were intimate, and she became pregnant with Kazuya's child. Before the conclusion of the second King of Iron fist tournament, Jun realized that Kazuya's supernatural powers stems from Devil. When Heihachi casts Kazuya's lifeless body into the volcano, the devil escaped and appeared before Jun to possess her unborn child. Jun defeated him and retires to desolate Yakushima to raise Jin alone. 15 years later, she sensed the approaching of Ogre and decided to tell Jin about his true lineage. She instructed that if anything happens to her, he should seek out his grandfather. One fateful night, Ogre did attacked and Jun was missing since then, presumably dead. Rating - 10/10. Well, she is Jin's mom and the only person in the world that made Kazuya melt. Plus, she's got the most interesting fighting style that makes for complex, tactical strategy, not to mention she's got the most beautiful throws. Jun defines what in the martial arts called "gentle strength". |
